Mozilla Firefox Gets A New Look

A change in user interface of any application is always welcome if done properly. Keeping customer’s convenience in mind and new touch screen operating systems in use, so far many companies have implemented several changes to many of the popular applications. Now it is Firefox’s turn. Mozilla has just streamlined the user interface in Firefox browser. The revamped look of Firefox is quite brilliant and you will definitely love the same. The most often accessed options would be shown as favicon images and you will find many pinned tabs that you commonly use. You will find a toolbar on top, which has a customized set of icons and they will appear on the top left side of the interface. You need to simply press on the horizontal lines icon given there and this will open up the menu.

This browser UI project was called Australis and the new browser could be used on tablets, personal systems as well as phones. Thus, Australis truly gives everyone the best user experience. You will definitely love the curvy tabs on the new web browser and the frame around the web page is also different. The tabs that you are using will be highlighted when the others will not be. The graphical menu is also unique and it is more like an apps grid than the traditional list of options.

The first step of Australis was the regular testing, this was done with the Aurora version, the test proceeded with the beta version of Firefox, and at last, the latest Firefox version was released. Mozilla has worked very hard on the same as they wished to bring a new look to the browser keeping the browsing habits of the users in mind. We all saw this coming because all the browsers have underwent major changes for the touch interface operating systems and Mozilla is following the same.

According to Madhava Enros, leader of Firefox user experience design team, “It's a streamlining and simplification of the default interface, to declutter and better focus on how people use a browser today”.

Now if you have the old interface browser in your system, you need to try the new attractive interface in the new version of Mozilla Firefox. If you have any doubts regarding this, you may contact the Mozilla Firefox Help and support team online. The Mozilla Firefox Help and support team would give the download links for the new version.

TechNet Subscription Service Retires

Microsoft Corporation has announced the retirement of one of its very popular Microsoft support services. TechNet Subscriptions service will end on August 31, 2013. But, customers can purchase new subscriptions till August 31, 2013 and even activate them before September 30, 2013. But, those existing subscribers will of course be able to access program benefits and download products till the expiry of their subscriptions.

Industry experts at Microsoft support services tend to feel that the move by Microsoft to retire TechNet can be largely due to the fact that other people including few software pirates also enjoyed the product keys and other benefits provided by the popular subscription. This means that they got the feeling that that they are indirectly aiding or helping the software pirates in their work. Though this can be a pretty valid reason, there are many things unclear as to why others should suffer because of that. People who have been enjoying these subscriptions are losing the package provided by the subscription.

While TechNet Standard package did cost Unites States Dollars 199, you have to pay Unites States Dollars 599 for a TechNet Professional with Media subscription where you receive software products in DVD format as well. In case of all subscription packages, including e-learning course collections, the things that will definitely help you to update the knowledge, the absence of future subscriptions after August 31, 2013. Additionally, Microsoft also provides useful professional support through various discussion forums with priority and online chat.

The world’s largest software company apparently refused to disclose any further clarification, when InfoQ reached out to its official spokesperson with various questions regarding the above development. This has been the case or approach recently for most things they’re asked to expound on.

As you can infer from the above discussion, TechNet is much cheaper than its full blown Microsoft Developer Network subscription package. So, as an alternative to TechNet, the software-zilla intends to provide free services that will include a new TechNet evaluation center. This new TechNet evaluation center will be offering free evaluation software for limited periods of 90 to 180 days. The software maker is planning to phase out the TechNet service completely by September 30, 2014.

This sure looks unfortunate for subscribers who were enjoying such cheap services. But, the software maker is at least handing out some free evaluation software till 2014, September.
